CULTURAL PROGRAM RULES & GUIDELINES

Registration Deadline: August 13, 2017 

Acceptance Deadline: August 20, 2017


·         Performance categories and time limit

o   Dance – Group (7 minutes)

o   Dance – Solo (5 minutes)

o  Music - Vocal (5 minutes)

o  Music - Instrumental (5 minutes)

o  Master of Ceremony (Entire Cultural Program)

o   Other Talents (5 minutes)

o   Other Talents include acting/theater, standup comedy/mimicry, etc.

o   The maximum time limit for each entry will be strictly enforced.

o   Solo performance is defined as any performance with only one participant on the stage. Within this category, a person can participate in maximum of one entry. (We encourage Group performances).

o   Group performance is defined as any performance with two or more participants on the stage.

·         Language

o   Except for the United States national anthem, all songs/music must be in Nepali or Nepali sub-culture.

·         Things to remember

o   Performers should use proper dress code to reflect Nepali tradition. However, in some instances, dress code can be modified according to the nature of the performance, but must be respectful.

o   Use of obscene words in tracks or vulgar steps are prohibited.

o   Costumes and props for the performance will be arranged by the performers themselves.

o   An individual can participate in a maximum of two performances.

o   Performers who are planning to dance are encouraged to select new popular songs instead of old popular songs that have been used in the past events. Re-mix songs are allowed.

o   Provide at least two to three song choices to avoid duplication.

o   Performers are highly encouraged to register in the Joint Convention. Please remember that registration is required to attend other Joint Convention events.

·         Registration deadline

o   Sunday, August 13, 2017 

o   You must complete the application form and email us a visual link of your performance. You will be notified if the performance does not meet our quality requirements and asked to submit another performance.

·         Acceptance deadline

o   Sunday, August 20, 2017

o   Performance acceptance period will start from August 13th to August 20, 2017. During this period, pre-screening process will be also completed.

o  Acceptance will be based on first come first serve basis.

o   The selected performers should provide high quality audio of their performance in a CD, flash drive, or a weblink, no later than August 20, 2017.

o   The Cultural Committee reserves all rights to make final decision on the performance acceptance or rejection.
